Memory Keepers Workshop is hands-on involvement. I will be working with you every step of the way. We will have an informal conversation before the workshop so you can get the most out of this project. The structure will be the same for all participants, but you will decide what you want to include in this book. Perhaps looking at images of your person is still too difficult, we can figure out what feels okay for you. Maybe you want to do more painting. Maybe you want to make new images of things that remind you of your person. Perhaps you'll use collage, or pieces of clothing, or small tokens from your relationship with your person  to add to your book. There are many possibilities. This is your personal project and it needs to be what connects you to your book.

We will meet on 4 separate Saturdays from 3-6pm (EST). The 1st half hour will be to check in, ask questions. We will start the work with demonstrations of each step, We will move to working independently. Depending on the age group and your relationship to the person you have lost, we might move into breakout groups. I will not know until the group is formed.

Session 1:

Centering Breathing Exercise, followed by brief introductions. We will move to talking about the size of your book and how many pockets you would like to have.

In this class you will measure, tear and score your pages. We will put the spread together by gluing some silk ribbon to attach the sheets.

You will work independently and I will be available to answer any questions.

We will end our session with a brief check-in before we part for the day.

Session 2:

Develop texture with tissue paper, tape and gesso.  If you are doing something different, please have that ready and you can work along with us. As we set the accordion to dry, we might move into working on the cover. We can brainstorm together.

You will work independently and I will be available to answer any questions.

We will end our session with a brief check-in before we part for the day.

Session 3:

We will work with India Ink drips to show the textures. We will work on letting go and see what emerges from this type of staining (or the drips of ink).

We will allow for the ink to dry and continue working on the outer cover and inner cover.

Once ink is dry, we will move to making the pockets on your accordion book.

You will work independently and I will be available to answer any questions.

We will end our session with a brief check-in before we part for the day.

Session 4:

Putting it all together.

We will add Tabs to be able to pull accordion open.

We will also be adding a closure for the book. We will work on adding images.

Bonus Session:

Working session to finalize your book. Here we will share about our experience and your person a little fuller.  You will be invited to tell us about your images and the stories that they hold.
